In line with the United Nations annual commemoration of: WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY, which is usually held on the 19th of August, SHEAD Centre (a non-profit organization known for her humanitarian gestures of creating and supporting interventions that directly improves the health and well-being of the society) again joined the Nations around the world in commemorating the global anniversary. As a way of acknowledging the effort of brave minds who have risked their lives for the good of #TheHumanRace, we join the2022 world humanitarian day campaign to fly the flags of selfless and sacrificial services of our humanitarian heroes who had left resonating legacies.
WHAT DOES THE WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY ENTAILS?
World Humanitarian Day is usually commemorated annually on the 19th of August to pay tribute to humanitarian worker skilled and injured in the course of their sacrificial services, and to honour all aid and health workers who continue, despite the odds, to provide lifesaving support and protection to people most in need. It is more than just a day that recognizes humanitarian workers who dedicate their lives working for humanitarian causes, it is a day also designed to remind us that these are the people who have dedicated their time in ensuring that the lives of the vulnerable are made much easier and safer, and recognizes the efforts of aid workers who put their lives on the line to help affected people during times of global crisis.
FOCUS FOR THE 2022 WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY
Each year, the United Nations observes World Humanitarian Day with at theme. The theme brings together all the people from across the humanitarian ecosystem to improve and raise awareness for the survival, well-being, and dignity of people affected by crises and for the safety of humanitarian This year’s anniversary is themed ‘The Human Race’. The theme aims at highlighting the issues relating to global climate change emergency. It also highlights the immediate consequences of the climate emergency of the world’s most vulnerable people and raises awareness for their wellbeing.
274 million people worldwide will be dependent on humanitarian aid in 2022. Afghanistan is in first place, Ethiopia in second place, followed by Yemen in third place. The “Top10” of the watch list also include Myanmar and Syria as well as five other African countries:
Nigeria, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Somalia, Sudan as revealed by the International Rescue Committee Emergency Watchlist, 2021.

Individual donations to nonprofits are great— but governments have the ability to make a difference on a much larger scale. At good, we’re always inspired by the legacies of our humanitarian heroes to ensure that we keep doing our best in extending our humanitarian services within our gray areas. We will not relent in our humanitarian services.
