Unilorin Health Week: SHEAD Centre Leads Medical Outreach with TB Screening, HIV Testing & Public Health Mobilization
SHEAD CENTRE – INC Advances ‘Health for All in Action’ During Unilorin Health Week Medical Outreach
In a bold move beyond our usual focus areas, SHEAD CENTRE – INC demonstrated its commitment to universal healthcare access by partnering with the University of Ilorin (Unilorin) Students’ Union during their 2025 Health Week. This impactful medical outreach was themed around “Health for All in Action”, delivering integrated healthcare services right to the heart of the campus community.
Our outreach featured a comprehensive social mobilization and medical intervention, carried out in collaboration with the State TB and Leprosy Control Program (STBLCP).
A major highlight was the deployment of a mobile digital X-ray system powered by Qure.ai, enabling early and efficient Tuberculosis (TB) screening for students and staff. In addition to TB detection, the outreach provided free diagnostic testing and essential health supplies, including:
- Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) Test Kits
- HIV/Syphilis Combo Test Kits
- Medical Gloves
- Face Masks
- Malaria Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) Kits
Thanks to our strategic efforts, several health cases were successfully identified and linked to proper care, ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey to wellness. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Iyanuoluwa Ayinde, our devoted State Coordinator, for her tireless work on the field, and to Joseph Abioye (MPH, FHL, FAIPH), our esteemed Program Director, for his visionary leadership and unwavering guidance.
Together, we’re building healthier, more resilient communities—one outreach at a time.
