International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2027

26 June 2027 | Prevention, Awareness, and Action

The International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, also known as World Drug Day, is observed annually on June 26 to strengthen global action and cooperation toward a society free of drug abuse.

Drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking can have serious consequences for individuals, families, and communities. Substance misuse can affect physical and mental well-being, education, relationships, livelihoods, and community safety.

The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking reminds us that addressing drug-related challenges requires prevention, education, accessible support, and coordinated action.

🧠 Promote accurate information and drug prevention education.
👨‍👩‍👧 Support young people and families with positive, healthy alternatives.
🤝 Encourage people affected by substance use to seek appropriate help without stigma.
⚖️ Strengthen efforts to prevent illicit drug trafficking and protect communities.
📢 Challenge misinformation and harmful attitudes surrounding drug use and recovery.

Prevention starts with awareness, but lasting progress also requires supportive communities, effective health services, and evidence-based approaches.

Let us build communities where people have the knowledge, support, and opportunities to make healthier choices and live free from the harms associated with drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

Raise Awareness. Prevent Drug Abuse. Support Recovery. Protect Communities.
