April 2027 Wed 14 WORLD CHAGAS DISEASE DAY (WYHO) April 14, 2027 WORLD CHAGAS DISEASE DAY Every 14 April, the world observes World Chagas Disease Day to raise awareness about Chagas disease, a neglected tropical disease that affects millions of people, particularly in vulnerable and underserved communities. Chagas disease is caused by the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi and is mainly transmitted through contact with infected triatomine bugs, commonly known as “kissing bugs.” It can also be transmitted through contaminated food, blood transfusion, organ transplantation, and from an infected mother to her baby during pregnancy or childbirth. Many people with Chagas disease may have no symptoms for years. However, if left undiagnosed and untreated, the infection can eventually cause serious heart and digestive complications. Why Awareness Matters Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent or reduce the progression of Chagas disease and its complications. Increasing public awareness, improving access to testing and treatment, strengthening prevention measures, and supporting affected communities are essential to tackling the disease. On World Chagas Disease Day, let us: 🔹 Learn about Chagas disease and how it is transmitted. 🔹 Promote early diagnosis and access to treatment. 🔹 Support stronger disease surveillance and prevention. 🔹 Challenge the stigma surrounding neglected tropical diseases. 🔹 Advocate for healthcare that reaches underserved communities. Chagas disease may be neglected, but the people affected by it should never be. Together, we can raise awareness, promote early detection, improve access to care, and work towards a healthier world where no one is left behind. World Chagas Disease Day Raise awareness. Promote prevention. Support early diagnosis. #WorldChagasDiseaseDay #ChagasDisease #NTDs #NeglectedTropicalDiseases #GlobalHealth #HealthAwareness #DiseasePrevention #EarlyDiagnosis #SHEADCentre Thu 22 INTERNATIONAL MOTHER EARTH DAY April 22, 2027 🌍 INTERNATIONAL MOTHER EARTH DAY Our planet is our home. International Girls in ICT Day is about changing that ratio—starting today. Technology is driving the future, yet millions of young women face barriers to accessing digital tools, internet access, and mentorship. Without equal access, we risk missing out on the ideas of half the world’s brightest minds. On International Girls in ICT Day, we reaffirm our commitment to closing the digital gender divide. Equal access to tech education, digital skills, and leadership roles creates economic opportunity, drives innovation, and builds stronger communities. THE ACTION How we narrow the digital gender gap: Provide Early Access: Get digital devices and hands-on training into classrooms early. Highlight Role Models: Showcase women building AI, leading cybersecurity teams, and coding scalable systems. Invest in Mentorship: Connect students directly with industry professionals.    A CALL TO ACTION Whether you’re an educator, tech leader, or student, you can make a difference: • Mentor a young woman interested in STEM. • Sponsor a digital skills workshop. “Give a girl a keyboard, and she will re-code the future.” 🚀 Today, on International Girls in ICT Day, we celebrate the innovators, coders, builders, and dreamers breaking boundaries in technology. Digital inclusion isn’t just about equality—it’s about building smarter, more inclusive solutions for every community. Let’s make sure every girl has the access, confidence, and tools to shape the digital economy. #GirlsinICT #WomenInTech #DigitalInclusion #STEMeducation #WomenInSTEM Sat 24 WORLD IMMUNIZATION WEEK 2027 April 24, 2027 – April 30, 2027 WORLD IMMUNIZATION WEEK 2027 (24TH – 30TH) World Immunization Week, celebrated in the last week of April, aims to highlight the collective action needed and to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease. Through its convening power, WHO works with countries across the globe to raise awareness of the value of vaccines and immunization and ensures that governments obtain the necessary guidance and technical support to implement high quality immunization programmes. The ultimate goal of World Immunization Week is for more people – and their communities – to be protected from vaccine-preventable diseases. Vaccines save up to 5 million lives every year. Yet millions of children globally still miss out on essential life-saving protection. Over the past 50+ years, immunization efforts have saved more than 150 million lives worldwide. From eradicating smallpox to driving polio cases down by 99.9%, vaccines remain humanity’s most powerful public health tool. “A world protected by vaccines is a world where every child gets the chance to thrive.” As World Immunization Week 2027 begins (April 24–30), we highlight the essential role routine immunizations play in preventing over 20 life-threatening diseases. Vaccines protect individuals, insulate healthcare systems, and safeguard our future generations. Let’s champion equal vaccine access for every child, everywhere. Check with your local health
