World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2026

Theme: Trapped Behind the Scam

Every year on July 30, the world marks the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons to raise awareness about one of the most serious violations of human rights. This year’s theme, “Trapped Behind the Scam,” highlights how traffickers use deception, fake job offers, false promises of education, romance scams, and fraudulent recruitment schemes to exploit vulnerable individuals.

Human trafficking can happen to anyone, regardless of age, gender, or background. Victims are often lured by opportunities that seem too good to be true, only to find themselves trapped in situations of forced labour, sexual exploitation, domestic servitude, or other forms of abuse.

What You Can Do

  • Be cautious of unsolicited job, travel, or scholarship offers.
  • Verify recruiters and agencies before accepting opportunities.
  • Learn the warning signs of human trafficking.
  • Speak up and report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
  • Support survivors with empathy, dignity, and respect.
